WASHINGTON, D.C. - One state in our listening area comes in the top 10 when it comes to the safest states for schools to reopen, while another state in our listening area is in the bottom 10.

The finance website WalletHub says Nebraska ranks 10th for safest states for schools to reopen, while Missouri ranks 44th. Kansas ranks 17th while Iowa ranked 21st.

For this study, WalletHub looked at 15 metrics, including the number of COVID-19 cases and deaths amongst children, as well as the likelihood of infection. The number one state on the list was Vermont, while Mississippi ranked last.
